The WAP-4000 is an IEEE 802.11g Wireless Access Point. IEEE 802.11g uses the 2.4GHz frequency band, the same as IEEE 802.11b; but it provides almost 5 times the throughput rate than 802.11b. With the latest innovative Super G technology integrated, the maximum data rate of the WAP-4000 is 108Mbps, which doubles the speed of standard 802.11g devices.

The WAP-4000 is also backward compatible and interoperable with IEEE 802.11b compliant wireless devices.WAP-4000 also integrates WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) and 802.1x authentication. Provided with one reversed-polarity SMA male connector, The WAP-4000 is easy to connect to an external antenna and booster to extend the wireless distance.
Five operational modes including AP, AP Client, Bridge, Multiple Bridge, and Repeater widen the usage of the WAP-4000. In standard Wireless AP mode, the WAP-4000 together with any other wireless access point provides seamless integration between a wired Ethernet network and wireless network and also offers roaming for all the Wireless mobile devices. AP client mode turns Ethernet devices into a wireless client. Switching to wireless bridging operation mode, allows for having two or more LANs in different buildings connected without having to run wires between buildings.
